SEO question about headers (2 posts)

I think I made a minor error with my headings. I didn't like <h1> font size and it bolded on one of my first pages of my website so I created a custom template without a title and I manually put in the title on the page myself. I liked the flexibility it gave me so I just went ahead and did that with all my pages. I used the "font sized" option of the visual editor to size my Headings.

It occurred to me though that Google probably looks for the <h1> tags for it's search engine and I am hurting myself by doing this. Is this correct? Should I go back and change my CSS to reflect the header that I want and use the header tags instead?

Also, should I do this the same for lesser headings with smaller fonts that are being used or does that matter?

    Thanks

Yes. Google applies more weight to H1 headings than it does to to H2, H3 etc.

Absolutely! A good logical heading structure is an integral part of SEO.

    All headings matter.
