    Hey Guys,

I am trying to see my rank on Google worldwide/countrywide - can you see if my site is appearing via this google search here: https://www.google.co.uk/#q=wordpress+hosting+uk

The url you're looking for is: WordPressHostingUK.ORG

Can you post the country your in, and the position you see my website in the search results - would be very grateful.

I am not trying to link spam, I geniunely want to know the rankings - and can delete this post after at least 9 people have given some data on rankings?

You actually have a bigger problem with that domain name - you are violating WP.ORG's trademark policy -

    http://wordpress.org/about/domains/

  3. The url you're looking for is: WordPressHostingUK.ORG

I sincerely hope that is not your domain as it violates the WordPress trademark.

    http://wordpressfoundation.org/trademark-policy/
    http://wordpress.org/about/domains/

If that is your domain could you not use it? See above links for why.

  4. *CRASH!!* Honestly we check the queue at the same time. WPyogi beat me to it by 46 seconds. :D

The domain is not tricking into getting people to think it is official wordpress, maybe you need to read it yourselves rather than repeat what you are told.

Also - it IS spreading information on using wordpress, as well as exists for non-profit reasons - as you can see, all links are disabled, and no aff links - nor advertisments of any nature!

Seriously - both of you choose to tell me what I should not be doing, rather than help - sadly, both are moderators....

Look at the hosting reviews page - NO Aff links: [ link redacted ]

Look at the WordPress Developers section that is ENCOURAGING development of WordPress: [ Also redacted ]

You're mistaken - this is quite clear:

For various reasons related to our WordPress trademark, we ask if you’re going to start a site about WordPress or related to it that you not use “WordPress” in the domain name.

It shouldn't be surprising to see moderators moderating the forums.

That's nice but not at all what is being discussed. We're talking about your trademark infringement. Did you take the time to read the links I've posted?

You can easily correct this just by redirecting to another domain name. There's no search engine penalty for using 301 redirects.

Seriously - both of you choose to tell me what I should not be doing, rather than help - sadly, both are moderators....

    Really?

Look at the hosting reviews page - NO Aff links:

See above comments about trademarks. No one else talked about affiliate links. You really should stop using that domain that contains "WordPress" in it per the links I posted.

thanks - but why did you not answer my original question if you are so concerned to help?

This is abuse of the limited amount of power you think you have.

    Read this -

We will grant permission to use the WordPress name and logo for projects that meet the following criteria:

The primary purpose of your project is to promote the spread and improvement of the WordPress software.
Your project is non-commercial in nature (it can make money to cover its costs or contribute to non-profit entities, but it cannot be run as a for-profit project or business).
Your project neither promotes nor is associated with entities that currently fail to comply with the GPL license under which WordPress is distributed.

You are still not reading that correctly - try here:

If your project meets these criteria, you will be permitted to use the WordPress name and logo to promote your project in any way you see fit with one exception: Please do not use WordPress or WordCamp as part of a domain name.

And BTW, your original question really has nothing to do with WordPress support - Google rankings are not a WordPress question.

AND for a project to "qualify" you would need to have the permission of the WP Foundation - so the above is a moot point unless you have that.

  13. wpguy206 - This post is closed.

You do not have permission from the WordPress foundation for the use of 'WordPress' in your domain name. As such, you are in clear trademark violation.

We, the merry volunteers of WordPress, chose not to support companies or peoples who violate the license structure of WordPress, including but not limited to, non-GPL compatible code and trademark violations.

Furthermore, this is not the place to ask "How's my SEO ranking?" That's your job, not ours. We're here to help people fix, develop, and whatnot with WordPress. While what you're asking is similar to that, you need something like this: http://rankingcheck.com/

Please take our advice. Change your URL. And stop calling the moderators names. They're trying to help you in the long run, and make sure your site isn't shut down for legal reasons.
