   For reasons that are explicable only to me I don't really want to use tags or categories. I've set the sitemap to include only the post pages, which is all I want indexed. But a nasty little devil on my shoulder keeps whispering that I may be screwing up my SEO without tags and categories.

   Is there a specific SEO advantage to tags and categories?

   I'm sorta lying, I do use one category for all my psots - comedy - but that's as far as I want to go.

   You can use them for SEO purposes without displaying them. Just edit your post metadata so the info isn't called.

   I guess that's my question though, what SEO purposes can tags and categories be used for?
