   is there a way that i can have a plugin read in informatin from a query string that is sent to a permalink?

   for example, i want to use this link
   http://www.mysite.com/archives/permalink/?x=4&y=1

   and have a plug-in read in x and y so that the page is dynamic.

   $_GET works for me.

   $query_string? Better still, $x and $y?
