self-pings with php as cgi

Wrote a post with 2 self-links, hit publish – post appears and the first ping works. Edit post (incidently to add external ping), save again and second ping sends (with edit-time time stamp).

I remeber seeing something on wp-testers/hackers about multiple self-server pings with php as cgi, but assume this is a shortcoming of the configuration and the only work around is repeated saving.

[Not exactly a question, but clarification might be usefull if someone else asks the same thing].
