Self made plugins do not appear in local host

Hi,

I am currently making a plugin, but it does not appear in the plugins list when I use local host. The files for the plugin are in the plugins folder. I running ubuntu and lampp.

I can install plugins from the repository in local host (after adding define('FS_METHOD', 'direct'); to my wp-config file) and my plugin shows up when I ftp it to my server online.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
