    Hi there,

I got Plugin organizer up and running and it does work on select pages.

But on certain pages I it won’t save changes.

I am using MU and have move the appropriate file.

Like i said it is working on some pages but not others

When I first tested it out I was trying to use it on my Home page which is the index page of my site I thought maybe it was just this page as other pages it worked great!

Then I came across another page it wouldn’t work on.

Any ideas I really like the performance gains on the pages its working on?

    Thanks,

    Joseph

So it doesn’t save when you click the publish button on the edit page screen in the admin?

Yes that’s right but only on certain pages.

Other pages it works perfectly and retains any changes.

They aren’t custom post type pages either just regular pages.

Jos, when you say it’s “not working on some pages”, do you mean the options aren’t listed on some pages to turn a plugin on or off?

Or do you mean the CSS / Javascript is still loading on other pages when you have a plugin turned off for that particular page?

Or, conversely, certain plugins are not loading on a page where you would like them to load, and have them turned on?

I’ve used Jeff’s plugin for a while now on just about every domain I have, so I might be able to help with some more details.

The plugin loads fine in the admin panel on all pages.

The plugin displays the toggle buttons and lists all the plugins on each page as it’s designed to.

When I publish the page on certain pages the settings aren’t saved.

While on other pages it’s saving the settings and working perfectly in regards to turning on/off plugins I’ve set it to.

So the plugin “works” it’s just I have a couple of pages the settings won’t save on.

Hope that clarifies and any help is appreciated as the pages it is working fully on have a great boost in loading performance.

I’d like to get it working on all my pages πŸ™‚

Well, certainly that’s why Jeff created this plugin — to boost performance and speed up page load times, avoid conflicts, etc. …

Use phpmyadmin or something in your host’s cPanel, and check to make sure the PO_plugins table exists in your database.

It will be wp_PO_plugins, unless you renamed your database table prefix (recommended), wp_ will be whatever you changed it to.

When in the database, you can use the browse function in phpmyadmin and look for the particular page. There, you can see which plugins are enabled/disabled and perhaps — as a temporary hack — just manually remove / add a plugin within the database table.

Also, go to the settings page and see if there are any messages in red at the top of the screen. If so, follow the instructions in that message.

Lastly, make sure you didn’t disable the Plugin Organizer itself on the page.

I’ll try to think of more solutions while I attempt to fix my own SSL issues.

Okay, well I’ve finally fixed everything on my end — again, this is an SSL domain. I’m not sure what precisely fixed things, but I’ll explain things I did.

    1. Removed the plugin Root Relative URLs.
    2. Changed my Settings >> General >> WordPress Address and Site Address from http:// to https://
    3. Went to Settings >> Permalinks and resaved my permalinks 3 times (just an arbitrary number, but from working with WordPress over the years, sometimes you have to resave your permalinks more than once)
    4. Went to Plugin Organizer >> Settings. Recreated the permalinks — in my case, from http://www.example.com to https://www.example.com
    5. Within Plugin Organizer >> Settings, I enabled Ignore URL Protocol. This goes against what had worked for me earlier, but I believe it’s what Jeff had in mind when creating this function in his plugin.
    6. Since you’re using it too, here are my WordPress HTTPS settings. Screen Capture 1. Screen Capture 2 (notice, under URL Filters, I have just a / and that’s it). That makes your entire WordPress (and admin) SSL’d, as does having https in your WordPress settings >> General WordPress address & Site address, but this ensures consistency.

From there, I globally disabled a plugin that I wanted globally disabled. I went to the 1 page where I wanted it enabled, cleared my browser cache, and things just worked.

Again, there might be a lot of resaving your permalinks — both in your WordPress settings >> Permalinks and your Plugin Organizer >> Settings >> Recreate Permalinks. You might have to do this more than once or twice.

That’s what worked for me. Let me know how things work out if you try those steps.

It sounds like a plugin conflict. Did you enable selective plugin loading on the admin? Do you have any filters for admin pages?

    Hi Jeff,

Yes I enabled selective plugin loading that is how it is able to work on some pages. I did have the disable plugins on admin pages in this plugins settings set but like I said it still works on some pages.

It tried both way no difference on the two pages. Works great on the others.

If it was a plugin conflict why would it would work on some pages and not on others?

Saving the page in the admin and then the plugins aren’t set that way when you come back to the page edit screen but only for some pages points to a plugin conflict. A plugin could be unhooking the necessary functions to save the plugin list. Or do you mean the plugins are still enabled on the front end when you view the page but the settings are showing that the plugins are disabled when you view the edit screen in the admin?

Saving the page in the admin and then the plugins aren’t set that way when you come back to the page edit screen but only for some pages points to a plugin conflict.

    This is what’s happening.

I disabled all plugins but Plugin Organizer to see if this is the case. No difference.

plugins are still enabled on the front end when you view the page but the settings are showing that the plugins are disabled when you view the edit screen in the admin?

    This NOT my issue.

Any other ideas? Could this be a theme conflict? I’m using Pagelines DMS2.

P.s sorry for late reply other priorities πŸ˜‰

Disable all plugins for http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/post.php and enable selective plugin loading in the admin. Then try to re-save the post and see if the plugins are saved.

Make sure you have ignore url arguments enabled when you try this.

Jos. T – did you get this figured out? I have the same symptoms as your site – i.e. I can make the selective plugins save and work on certain pages but not on the home page.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

This is on a new installation of WP4 using the latest version of PO.
