I was hoping that I could encourage wordpress developers out there to create an open source plugin for wordpress which does the same thing as the commercial service provided by Selected Works. This would be a great help to any authors, scholars, etc. who have their own wordpress blogs! It would be even better if it could be integrated into WordPress.com as well ...
what does that do that is different from someplace like edublogs? Thats not sarcastic, I honestly dont understand what they do..

Edublogs, as I understand it, is like WordPress.com targeted at education users. Selected Works is a publishing platform not a blogging platform. It allows you to self publish/self-archive your academic articles in an easy to read and search format with RSS feeds. Having looked for something like this on a fairly consistent basis over the past 5 years I'm very impressed with what they've done, but it seems to me that it should be easy enough to create a clone of this service on WordPress via a plugin.
