Shouldn’t be a problem.
1.) You should be able to modify your top menu by clicking
Design > Menus in your admin. That will work IF the theme supports custom menus. (If not, ask here again and I will tell you how to do it in that case).
2.) Under each page (in edit mode) there should be a box called “Discussion” or something like that. There you can unmark the boxes and close comments for that page.

1) do you mean Appearance>Menus? I see the menu items there, and making changes does effect the menu on the live site (i.e. change spelling of an item). But the duplicate entries are not there .. all is correct in the “Menus” admin page.
2) Im editing a particular page and i dont find anything about discussions or comments. I see the following:
The WYSIWYG box
Page Attributes, lets you set Parent, Template, Order
Publish, has its own options
Nothing else where i might disable comments.

i see in header.php how i can remove the entire navigation bar, but to change it would be over my head.
I could just delete it, but then id definitely like to have some form of nav up top for pages, so id be left with trying to figure out how to do that.
Any help is appreciated!

I cant seem to find anything at all online.
