    Hello,

Whenever I perform a search query on google for my website, it pulls up links to random pages of the site which are in administrator mode. In other words, the pages that are pulled up show the proper appearance for the page as it is supposed to be seen online, but at the left-hand bottom of the page there is the prominent EDIT button which, if clicked on, gives complete backend, password-free administrator rights to anyone who wants to roam around inside the site. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix this problem? Thanks very much for your help.

    Mike

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

Thanks for the quick response. I’ll try your suggestion; might the problem be the Ultimate SEO plugin? BTW, I’m already utilizing the Twenty Ten Theme.

Dumb question, are you sure you are logged out before performing this search?

Do you have a cookie set to allow auto login to your site??

Actually, a very good question, and I’m afraid you may have hit the nail on the head. I asked a friend to log in to the site from his I-pod, and he successfully found it with no administrator privileges. This is embarrassing, but I’ve never done this before and can occasionally display a painful learning curve. Thanks very much for your help.

Actually, I am glad that was the problem, and not some weird bug.

Glad you got it figured out.
