• I’d like to limit my blog to family & friends. And I’d like to do a little better than just giving them all the same password.

What’s the best way to accomplish this with WordPress? If this involves .htaccess/.htpassword , what’s the best way to set this up so users can register themselves (and maybe I approve them in the admin panels)?

  • The htpasswd method will work, even if you have multiple users. If you’re not sure how to do it, just google it. The alternative way could be via htaccess, by restricting access to only some pre-defined IP addresses.
