• Hi All,

Hopefully this will be a nice, quick question to answer…but so far I just am having a heck of a time figuring this out! Also, this question spans a couple of different forums, so I figure this is the best place for it. I am looking to redesign my research organization’s website, http://www.thethrivecenter.org, because the amount of content that the site contains has exploded.

I would like to redesign the website to include a secondary navigation menu that changes based on the parent page, like that of http://www.pewresearch.org (I know Pew uses different domains all together, but I would like to have the same effect with subpages). Ideally, I would have a top navigation menu with a set of links that, when activated, will change the links on the submenu as long as someone stays within that section of the site. On that submenu, I would preferably like the links to have dropdown ability.

So, now for my questions: (1) Is there a name for this kind of navigation / menu? (2) Is there a way to do this without an immense amount of coding, like with a plugin? (3) Does anyone know of any themes that would allow for this functionality or are laid out in this way?

Thank you all in advance for your help! I did find for the Genesis Framework it seems that there is a plugin that allows for this functionality (https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-simple-menus/), but I am not sure at this point if I want to go this route. Suggestions / comments regarding Genesis are appreciated though too!
