Secondary loop.php/functions.php file? (4 posts)

I'm working on a site that's going to show real estate postings. The homes are listed as posts, and we also have a blog. On the category page for the homes, I need to change "Posted on" to "listed on" and "posted in" to "located in". I know I can change those in the loop.php and functions.php files, but I only want them to change for the real estate category, not for our normal blog posts. Is there a way to do that? Everything I've read suggests child themes, but I don't see how that would help, since once I activate the child theme, the entire site is using that theme.

Use a conditional tag called in_category and change it based on that in the proper files.

Oh and the child theme suggestion is spot on. Use a child theme to make sure your changes stick should a theme update come out. Up to you though.
