Searching non-wp tables (2 posts)

    Hi,
I am trying to find a way to search and display information from database tables that weren't created by wordpress.
I'm using machform from appnitro to create contact information forms. The form html generated by the program can be inserted into a wordpress page or post. After pushing the "submit" button, the entries from these forms are saved in their own database tables, one per field, named "element_1" and "element_2_1" (for example). I would like to retrieve that information from my wordpress office intranet site using the search form.

All the search plugins that I've found were built to get info from additional wp tables. How do I tell the search to look in tables named by another program?

    Any ideas?

I'm looking for some of the same functionality. I'm in the process of building a plugin that will function as a company directory for a client. The data will be stored in a seperate table. Building the plugin is the easy part. Trying to figure out how to make it searchable is proving to be a challenge.
