Search this site by dates? (7 posts)

Many times I've come here for help... only to get a full page of search results from posts over a year old. Of course they could be relative, but it is doubtful that posts that are over 2+ years old are relative. :)

Is there any way to search the forums and eliminate results from topics posted over X amount of time ago?

Just tossing it out there. :)

Thank you everyone who works on WordPress, and this site. You all rock.

  2. Would the answer 'We know the search sucks' make you feel better?

    Answer: Not at this time.

Reason: Cause it's harder than it looked and the search sucks.

But yeah, it does and we know :/ (also some older -- closed -- posts are still shockingly valid!)

Is it possible to show the posts date in the search results? That could be very helpful :)

(For example, I was doing a search for updates to a plug-in, and post results from 2 years back were irrelevant).

Just tossing the idea out. :)

    Again, thanks to everyone.

Yes, I have come here to ask something similar. I did a search on the forums on a problem I was having. ("comment spam images"--I just got all my IMAGES commented with spam!)

The first five results were five, six, four, four, and seven years old! The "top" result started out, "I updated an install of WP to 1.5.2 last night."

The 5th of the first page of 10 showed "posted 7 years ago" on the listing page, the other 9 did not disclose their date until opened--could this anomaly offer a path to showing dates for all the listings?

  7. Like I said, it's a known issue, guys.
