I have a plugin which creates posts that contain only shortcodes in order to sync with other data at the time of viewing. I tried a search using this plugin and it didn’t come up with some posts that it should have. Does this plugin search the results of those shortcodes?

    Thanks.

Yes. You need to check the box “Extend shortcodes” in Relevanssi settings.

However, that doesn’t work particularly well with dynamic content. Relevanssi extends the shortcodes and indexes the dynamic content at the moment the post in indexed, not when the search is made.

So, unless you keep rebuilding the index constantly, it’ll be out of date. Relevanssi – or anything else that is based on indexing – is not a particularly good search solution when you have live data that is constantly changing.

    Mikko,

Thanks for the response. So, is the index done at regular intervals or do you have to manually index.

    Thanks,

Posts are indexed when they are saved, or when you click the “Build index” button on the Relevanssi settings page. If you want the index to update more regularly, you’ll have to index it manually.
