Search Result Not Working - redirection to index (21 posts)

When I perform a search on my wordpress installation the results are not showing.

Instead of the results page, wordpress leads me to the index page.

I searched on this forum and found that some bugs about this matter were already corrected on old versions of wordpress.

Any clues? My site is http://www.fisiculturismo.com.br

    Thanks.

You have a Google search on your site - not the native WordPress search.

That's correct. But I want to add wordpress native search for users. And it's not working. Check it out in this exemple: http://fisiculturismo.com.br/?s=test&submit=Pesquisa

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    All plugins were disable.

I use Twenty Eleven as theme, with modifications. I haven't changed anything on searchform.php or search.php.

I did the ressetting on plugin folder.

    The problem persists.

    Any clues?

    What modifications?

On Twenty Eleven. Only design, CSS and html.

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations.

I am sorry, I have created a child theme, not edited Twety Eleven itself.

When I said "modifications" on the theme, I meant a child theme.

What happens if you use the original Twenty eleven theme?

Same thing, the result page is the index.

    ;-(

  12. Your search, which is a google search, works fine for me.

Please, read above: That's correct. But I want to add wordpress native search for users. And it's not working. Check it out in this exemple: http://fisiculturismo.com.br/?s=test&submit=Pesquisa

  14. I use Twenty Eleven as theme, with modifications. I haven't changed anything on searchform.php or search.php.

Okay, you need to turn off your child theme for now and test with JUST TwentyEleven

Yes, I did that. Deactivated my on child theme and activated Twenty Eleven.

The search result was the same: shows index.

  16. What's in your .htaccess?

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /sistema/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /sistema/index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

  18. Can you spin up a second site (in a different folder) and see if the search works there?

I'm pretty sure this is something to do with your setup, but that would mean:

    1) Plugins
    2) Theme
    3) Server

We've tested 1 and 2 (you DID remember to turn off all plugins AND change to Twenty Eleven, unmodified, in the same test, right?) so what's left is 3.

Sure, I have tested the search in the original Twenty Eleven with no plugins at all. What should I test on my server?

  20. You're testing, via a separate install, if search works on a plain install of WordPress.

If it does, you missed something in your other tests.

Ok, I will install wordpress on a different folder and test it. I guess I will have problems with permalinks and things are not going to work anyway.
