    Ive been trying to change the background color to my search box to black...or any other color than white. As the text seems to be white and wont show up without highlighting..Ive looked at the other troubleshooting ideas and none of them seem to apply with the format that Im working with...
    Here is what Im finding in my sidebar.php:
    <li id="search" style="font-weight:bold; padding-top:20px;">
    <label for="s"><?php _e('Search'); ?></label>
    <form id="searchform" method="get" action="<?php echo $PHP_SELF; ?>">
    <div>
    <input type="text" name="s" id="s" size="15" />
    <input type="submit" name="submit" value="<?php _e('Search'); ?>" />

    Please Please where do I change the backgound color there? I know the hex is #000 or at least pretty sure..lol
    any help would be greatly appreciated!.

    Try this:

    <input type="text" name="s" id="s" size="15" style="color: white; background: black;" />

    Instead of "white" and "black" you can use "#fff" and "#000" respectively.

    You can change the background color in the css file.
