Search box doesn't search strings starting with the letter "d" (14 posts)

    How weird is that?
The search engine from my company's website apparently does not allow me to search for stuff starting with the letter "d".

Try for yourself (you don't have to understand the portuguese language):

    1. http://www.audiolog.pt
    2. Go to the search box on the top right corner
    3. Type a name of a product starting with "d", like "digimax"
    4. Then take out the "d" and type "igimax". Presto!

Can anybody explain how to fix this?
    Thanks.

Have you tried switching to the Twenty Ten theme to confirm that it's a theme-specific problem?

    Hi Esmi.

Just tried that. Switched over to Twenty Ten, tried the search box, same result.
It does not seem to be a theme-specific issue.
And it has been happening for some time now (since the first WP I used, 2.5 or something, I can't remember).

    Try:
    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Thanks.

I will try that and report back.

Ok... maybe I should have asked how do I do it via FTP or PHP MyAdmin first?

Well, did a major clean up inside the plugins folder.

So, *after deleting all inactive plugins*, I deactivated all the plug-ins, one by one, and kept going back to the website to try the search box. Same result every time.

Deactivating them all directly via PHP MyAdmin proved no different.

Apparently, this search box doesn't simply like the letter "d".
Maybe I should stop selling stuff that starts with "d"? ;)

    Best regards. Andre'

Is there anything else on the hosting account/server other than this WordPress site? I'm wondering if something else is clipping the query variable before it even gets to WP.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue...

I'd say the last WP update probably solved this issue. Not sure why, but the problem went away.

I'm up-to-date but am still experiencing it. Did you do any changes to your server? Note, this works locally but not on my server.

Hmm... not really. Haven't changed a thing. Well, it's not my server anyway, but one day the problem was gone.
Sorry that I can't explain it any further. I was just glad it was over, so I didn't bother to investigate...
