[resolved] Scroll bar inside iFrame on Firefox (11 posts)

I love the plugin and it works great for me, however there's a bug on Firefox that's bothering me.

You can see the plugin working on this post, as you hover on "Código QR" below the App Store button.

It works fine in all browsers, but in Firefox the iFrame opens with scroll bars and the QR code can't be correctly read.

Any way to fix this and not affect other browsers? Thanks!

Hi Rafael, Firefox seems to have trouble with scaling down the javascript rendered 400x400 image to fit the (smaller) space inside the lightbox. Use {width:420;height420} to allow for the white 10px border around the 'image'...

Ok, but then this happens in Chrome for example:

If the image stayed aligned in the center, it'd be acceptable. Is it possible?

Somehow, it looks like FireFox adds some extra border to the dynamicly rendered image. The default margin for a body element is 8px in Firefox so that might be applied to the body in the iframe, not sure...

Would it not be easier to save the dynamic image as a normal .png, upload it and link to that instead?

Not really, we use this dinamically on an area for app downloads. So it goes through Google's servers to generate and show the QR code.

Hmmm, then you could try {width:400,height:400,scrolling:'no'} ...

By the way, don't you think people will find it annoying that the popup opens on mouse over? I mean when you move your mouse over to, for example, the menu to navigate elsewhere or to a link in the text or sidebar but you cross this little image there just by chance, unaware of what it will do, then suddenly you are confronted with an annoying popup that prevents you from clicking the link you were going to. For me, this sort of unexpected popup behaviour (along with background music I did not ask for) would be my queue to hit the little X. Not the one to close the lightbox but the one on the browser tab... Just an annoying, un-asked-for, suggestion ;)

What would scrolling:'no' do? My bet is that it will hide de scroll bars on Firefox, but the QR code will still be incomplete, won't it?

I understand your concern about the mouseover action, that was something Apple/TradeDoubler recommended us to do to increase app downloads by making it easier for people to scan the codes without having to click on the link first. I myself didn't like the idea first but decided to test it out. No complaints at all so far, and it's been like that for a few weeks. ;-)

Try it, the scroll bars take a lot of space and without them, the QR code might just fit :) ... Probably out of center but then that's only in Firefox (as long as it keeps giving a default 8px margin to the iframe body).

I've just deployed a change on the code adding that and it unfortunately didn't make any change in Firefox.

Use a comma (,) not a semi-colon (;) to seperate the meta parameters.
