Football Pool
[resolved] Scores Multiplied by Three (11 posts)

After version 2.3.2 failed to work, I got back to version 2.3.1
But now each user's score is multiplied by three no matter how many times I redo a "Full Re-calculation".. for instance, instead of getting 5 points for a correct score, each user get 15 and so on..
Is there a solution for this?

    Thank you..

UPDATE: Anyone having the same problem as above.. there is no way you would be able to resolve it.. there is obviously a serious bug in the ranking calculation starting with version 2.3.0

As far as I'm concerned.. if you didn't keep a database backup from version 2.2.5 then you're probably stuck until the author resolves the problem and releases a new version..

Otherwise, if you kept a backup.. then do the following to resolve all your problems:

    1) Download the old script version here http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/football-pool.2.2.5.zip
    2) Unzip the folder on your local computer
    3) Upload the folder to /public_html/yourwebsite.com/wp-content/plugins (overwriting version 2.3.x)
    4) Go to PhpMyAdmin from your Cpanel and import the database you backed up before all the 2.3.x versions were released

    Now you should be fine...

Did you keep a backup from the 2.3.x version with the problem of the triple points? If so, could you send me a dump of the pool_wp tables (wordpressfootballpool [at] gmail [dot] com)? The calculation works fine in my installs, so I would like to investigate the data in your situation.

Unfortunately not... so sorry about that... and I truly appreciate your willingness to help.. but what I noticed back then.. is that even if I uncheck the option of including score difference in the calculations (i.e. give extra points for 3-1 when the correct score is 2-0).. it seemed to still gave points for those.. but I cannot confirm that this indeed was the cause of the problem...

And now I'm too scared to upgrade my 2.2.5 because when I upgraded to 2.3.2 is wasn't just a syntax error.. but the whole website went blank.. not a single page whether at the front end or the back end displayed.. I only got a white page whenever I tried to access any page..

Do you think I should wait before giving it another upgrade try?

If you can share a database dump of the 2.2.5 version with me, I can debug that version. I will do the upgrade on my local machine and try to figure out what is causing the problem.

I only need the pool_wp tables and a list of plugins you're running in the install.

Update: I just read a bit about dumping databases.. so right now I'm exporting it with the maximum options.. if this is not what you want, kindly let me know..

Of course.. but could you please tell me how to do a database dump? I'm sorry I'm not such an expert.. and I haven't done it before.. but I'm a fast learner.. so just tell me how to do it, and I'll send it right away along the list of plugins..
