• Hello all, the question is pretty simple:

2 different domain names on the same host. Both have access to the same databases. I have a wordpress site all up and running on one domain (A) and would like to have a carbon copy running on a different domain (B)

Also I would like when I make changes to site A they show up on B as well.

I guess my question is simply how do you do that, and are there any plugins or tutorials I should use to make this happen.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and respond.

  • Hi Johnyct!
I’m mostly curious why you would like to have 2 domains with the same content? Isn’t it better to choose one domain and to redirect visitors coming to the 2nd domain to the first? In this way you’ll have more visitors on your site instead of sharing them. Or?

Using a standard installation of WordPress, this can’t be done. The installation stores it’s domain URL in the database, and all links, images, etc that are included in your posts/pages are all hard-coded to the domain that is set for the system. There might be some plugins that are available, but I’d recommend against using these and doing this, for the following reason:

Google does not like duplicate content. When you read their webmaster guidelines, you’ll find out that any pages that are duplicated in the way that you are will be dropped from their index completely. I don’t know about you, but the idea of duplicating content for a second site that will get dumped from all search queries seems like a complete waste of time to me.
