[resolved] Same Themes and Widgets Across Network (7 posts)

Hi, I'm in the process of building a blog network. Installation is complete and things are looking good so far. However, there is one major problem. After creating a new site, that particular user/site sees a brand new WordPress installation. This goes for the default WP theme, sidebar, widgets, etc.

Is there a plugin that allows me to apply the site's primary theme, widgets and sidebar to all new and existing sites? I would like users' new posts to automatically be included in the primary site's directory, that way I can feature some of them on the front page.

Is this possible? Thank you very much for your help! I appreciate it.

  2. Existing no. New yes.

Would you say this is the way to go? I would want new users to have access to only a certain amount of options, leaving the attributes created by me left untouched (ad placements, certain widgets, etc.). Also would a new user's posts be automatically listed on the primary site? I would need to feature different users' posts on the front page, but once clicking on the article, the visitor is then taken to the user's actual sub-site.

    Does this make sense?

Look at LockerGnome.com for a great example. It's the same theme across the board, yet each user has his/her own content. They even have the ability to change the theme if they so choose, while remaining in the same network of blogs.

    Now I'm confusing myself.

You understand that by giving someone a site, they are ADMIN of their site and can do 90% of what they could on a self-hosted site, right?

Not built in. Grab the sitewide tags plugin and RA Featured posts :)

You need a *number* of plugins to do what you want. LockerGnome has a ton of plugins and a butt-load of customizations.

Thank you for your help, everyone. However, I've decided to take my site in a slightly different direction. I appreciate your responses!
