  • Wondering if this is appropriate for WordPress MU Domain Mapping – which I haven’t used yet.

I have a client with both domain A & B, which I’m going to migrate to WP. They are currently manually themed the same (well, minor differences). While the content is different, they share the same menu with some items pointing to the A domain, and others to the B domain.

Is MU Domain mapping the best solution for this? The content is maintained by the client and I’m hoping to make it as easy as possible for them, as well as keeping the administration simple.

    Thanks!

  • No.

The domain mapping plugin is for when you are running a network and wish to have one of the sub blogs (subdomain or subfolder) use its own TLD.

It works exactly like the domain mapping option on wordpress.com, except for your own install.

If they only have 2 domain, putting both sites in a network and mapping the second may be overkill.

Thanks @andrea)r, it does seem like DM would work, but I agree, perhaps overkill.

Sorry for the late reply – I just spotted this thread.
I’ve created a plugin called “MiniMU” that would likely do what you need to accomplish. Multiple domains, each of which can have a different theme, but also share content if desired.

    Plugin page: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/minimu/
