I have many multi sites on my wordpress install. I tried importing my categories thru the exported xml file but it resulted in mislabeled cat id's everywhere, and missing categories. Now the missing categories I get, BUT why are my ids all mislabeled. I dont want to know why, I just would like to have the same ID labels.
    are there any fixes.

  2. They don't carry over like that. Category (and tag) IDs are specific to the site, because the ID value is generated automatically when you create a new cat/tag. It's a database value you really don't want to screw around with.

What's the reason you need them to have the same IDs? Maybe we can find a different solution.

because i dont want to use different themes for each multisite. i want to have the same look and feel and have the same categories. Im using the site host different areas in my county. and they all have the same categories.
I may have seemed to found the answer.
but if you have any insight let me know

  4. I'd do it with category NAME and not category ID, personally.

    how do you implement that?

  6. Depends on what you're doing. :) Is this for a menu, a template...?

;) oh ya? for a template. my theme has calls different categories on pages but each multisite has the same theme with same category calls.

  8. Check out http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

You can name the files tag-<slug>.php and that will get called.
