I have just uploaded WP 2.5 onto the mediatemple servers and set up a mySQL database but when i go to the wp install page i'm getting this message
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the db26972 database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user db26972_mauricex have permission to use the db26972 database?
all my permissions are correct and my wp-config seems okay.
does mediatemple take so long to set up a mySQL database?
do i have to go and eat before i try

If you were able to click to create your database... then you don't have to wait for the host for anything.
I'd check again:
was the user added to the database with all privileges?
is the DB name really correct in your config file?
99.99% percent of the cases the user made a mistake in the wp-config file. Sorry, it's just fact.

It really is the case - on their new grid servers mediatemple are doing a whole load of migrations and the mySQL takes about an hour (or two if you are in the UK) before it gets set up if you are unlucky,

Hey.. for the hostname you did use the 'external' url right?
