I like the integration feature - haven't seen this in other gallery programs - cool
I would like to know whether you can you spread thumbnails across several linked pages?
    i.e.:
24 thumbnails - 6 per page - spread over 4 pages - and linked at the bottom of the page as follows:
    1, 2, 3, 4 ... next page

Sorry, its being developed for 1.3+ (1.5alpha at my own site) The plugin model is alot better in the coming version.
But i have released a hack for WP1.2 (havent tried 1.2.2, but it works for 1.2.1, but its not the easiest hack to install).

Looks very good!!! Great rabbitphoto's! I wonder if my cat is such a good model.
I haven't installed it yet (have to upgrade first), but when you add new images to a directory, are the 'pages' updated as well? And with the latest images in front, on the first page? That would make it a very nice photoalbum indeed!
Would it be possible to get some kind of comment underneath the larger images as well? I see that it now uses the filename and size, but perhaps jpeg-comments?

    Hi Moxie,
The pages are of course updated, but the pictures are sorted alphabetically right now, maybe I should have som sort of setting to change the "sort order".
What do you mean about comment? Right know you can write a description to each picture, see it in action here...

Like I said, I haven't installed it yet, but looking at the example behind the link you gave, it says:
    Dimensions: 400 x 300
    Filesize: 21.3 kb
    Filename: paging.jpg
Is this what you mean with description? Can it be changed into a title or short description? Like: Location: Amsterdam - Subject: Cat on a hot tin roof (I mean "Rabbit on a hot tin roof" :) ).
And yes, 'sort order' would be great, because when you divide 50 images over 5 pages, ten images per page, someone interested in certain photographs would only have to look at the first page (and even the first image => the one in the gallerylisting would be the latest image) to see if some new images have been added since his of her last visit.
Sort-order + decription would make it ideal for how I would like to display my photographs.
Do the directories with images have to be inside the wp-content directory (just took a peek at the sourcecode), or can they also be placed in another directory?

Right now i have it all placed in the wp-content folder to make installation easier.
But i could see it having a setting that the gallery root was somewhere else.
I see your point about the order - the description is allready possible.

I'm free next week, so then I'll upgrade to 1.5 and install your plugin to give you better feedback. It sounds perfect!
A different place for the gallery root would be nice (together with the order) because now I have all of my contents in site/weblog/archives/200412/ etc., and backing up my site content makes it easier when all of the pictures also are in let's say site/weblog/rumgallery/ or site/gallery/. My wordpress folder is in site/wordpress/ and I would like to keep these seperated for three reasons: first it makes a future upgrade easier, secondly I won't delete files by mistake that are inside the wordpress folder that belong to the content, and third I want to make my site compatible for when wordpress is equiped with the possibility of multiple blogs from one installation.
I'm really looking forward to using your plugin. I couldn't decide yet to which photoblog plugin to use with wordpress untill now :).

I'll make a solution for the sort order and gallery root setting in this coming weekend (after new years). :)

Some really awesome work there RummandDan, I am just wondering if somehow you could have a date and a comment section on the individual pictures. Something like when it was last modified (or taken), and description of what the picture is would make the plugin even better.

Ill take that into mind for the next release basketball. :)

Last modified is surely gonna be implemented (haev to use it for the sort order earlier discussed in this topic).

    The description is allready possible.

The comments i have to figure a good way to do (this is aiming for not using any database queries at all, so i dont know yet if that will be in the next release.)

Dan, i'm not sure where to install the files. Your installation instructions refer to a linux comand to extract the files from the WP root. Not having shell access and using a windowz machine to extract/ upload the files, i'm a bit stuck.

    I've tried WP root, wp-content/plugins & wp-content/plugins/gallery

    Help!

hmmm - it seems that there are 3 gallery.php files [I bodged the extraction using winace]

    gallery.php goes into the root
    dir.gif goes into wp-images
    gallery.php[2] goes into wp-content/plugins/
the rest of the files [including gallery.php[3]] go into wp-content/plugins/RumGallery/

[still not working/ appearing on plugin page]

    Hi Mark,

I have made a zip archive you can try on windows: http://rummanddan.dk/files/RumGallery-0.02.zip

Try to extract this archive in your wordpress root. :)

I'm using WP 1.22 and I've been installed rumgallery plugin with WordPress 1.2 hack. But when I finished the installation and tried to upload picture, it displayed like this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatetruecolor() in /z2/vjbobo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/gallery.php on line 505
Anyone could tell me how to solve this problem?

Then your webservers compile of php doesnt support GD (2) the newer versions of php have it bundled with the source...

Superb! Thanks for the zipped version Dan - That works perfectly [no more guessing ;)]

    Awesome gallery plug-in!
I want to be able to click an image and see it in its original size... Maybe an idéa?
And to be able to add comments to the pics would also be great!

Wow again! ....It took a while for me to work out how to actually SEE the gallery - but then I looked at yours and realised that I just needed to call the gallery.php file at the root of my site :P

That really is amazing! It's so simple I can delegate the task of uploading picture sets! Automatically re-sizing and creating thumbnails, and creating the whole thing for you. I'm gob-smacked - never seen anything like it before!

It almost fits with my template too - but as there are a couple of includes I need to tweak the gallery page to suit.

One suggestion - It'd be perfect for me if the larger picture also linked to the raw file - size to fit an 800x600 screen - as some of my visitors prefer to see that. I've seen it done nicely at seriocomics site [ http://www.seriocomic.com/imagery/ ] - actually he breaks out to a new window for this - so preserving the original site theme.

    Thanks a million! :)

    Dan stated on his site:

"Glad you like it mark, if you look in settings there’s a checkbox for “save original, even though its not implemented yet, it is the same as you described as I intend to develop with it."

[hope you don't mind me quoting you Dan]

    Dan,

Do you have the 1.2 hack available in a zip?

    Thanks

    Surely bjohnson,

    here it is :)

The gallery is not intended to be working with the "old" WP. I havent even tried it for the latest release, as i upgraded all the blogs i use myself to the 1.5+ dev release. Let me know how it works :)

Let us know when you have the 'save original' feature imlemented wont you Dan :)

    I was wondering:

Would it be possible to do batch imports - I can envisage it getting a little tedious having to upload all files individually??

Would it be possible to fetch more information about the image from the exif information within the file? I have an excellent utility I use together with gallery that pulls off such detail, so I know it's there, just not how to get at it :)
The utility is called set name to time and can be found here: http://www.storcksoftware.com/setnametotime/

Mark about batch imports that's on the drawing board... Havent quite found the best solution yet...

It would either be some ftp'ing images, and then some sort of import in the backend, or it would be upload one large zip file with images, that would be extracted and imported on the server. Dont know which its gonna be (or maybe both methods, could be implemented).

The exif stuff havent i looked into, but i know the functionallity is there, that shouldnt be too much of a problem to implement.

    Dan,

The hack worked great. I have it running on my WP 1.2.1 site now.

Everything is just place holders now, today I'll be designing everything and making it look nice.

    http://gotbill.crewdevelopment.com/gallery.php

Everything seems to be working :)

    Thanks
    Bill
