    I just upgraded and now am getting this error message on rss2 and comments rss2: Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/sherrych/public_html/index.php:2) in /home/sherrych/public_html/wp-rss.php on line 10

    Line 2 of index.php is the standard require(‘./wp-blog-header.php’);

    I’ve read all the previously posted fixes and nothing has worked. I haven’t modified (or even opened) any of the new files. I have tried reverting to my backed up 1.2 version of wp-blog-header.php – with that in place, the rss2 just displays index.php.

  • Do you use custom permalinks? If so, do wp-rss2.php and wp-commentsrss2.php also cause this error? Also, a link to your blog may help track this down.

    I don’t use custom permalinks. The url is http://sherrychandler.com

    Thanks!

    Running the feed through index.php is definitely the cause. This works:

    http://sherrychandler.com/wp-rss2.php

    I’d first see if there are any extra (blank) lines in your root index.php (and not the one for your theme), before the opening <?php, or after the closing ?>.

    Thanks so much! The index file is one of those nightmares based on FrontPage (friend did it herself and wanted to use it) that I patched WP code into for her. I checked for blank lines – none to be found.

    Would it be a problem if I just change the link to wp-rss2.php directly? Readers would need to resubscribe, but it might be the best answer at this point.
