If you drag the search box into the first widget area in the Twenty 10 1.2 theme, totally unmodified, then drag an RSS widget in under it, the page will end with an , miss the footer off, and hence the stats.
Here's the last 5 days stats:
Google analytics: 508,293,322,438,339
Wordpress stats: 677,548,192,148,78,17
Took me AGES to figure out what it was, but start of the WP stats plummet is exactly the time I added the search box. Everything up to date inc plugins, cache turned off just to check.
Weird, eh? Hope this helps anyone else suffering this, too!
Don't know what to do about it - just turned off RSS widget for the moment.
