• I have recently installed WordPress 2.9.2. My problem is that whenever I click the RSS button, either on the blog page, or in the Firefox address bar, I am treated to the following error message:

You don’t have permission to access /feed on this server
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have checked the folders on my server to make sure that read/execute permissions are available, and there does not seem to be any problem there. The problem is also independent of the theme I have installed. So does anybody have any other ideas?

I have two other WordPress installations, but I do not have this problem with them.

  • Have you published any posts yet?

Yes, I have published a number of posts. However, I have now discovered a number of other internal links which do not seem to be working.

I set up “friendly” permalinks BEFORE making any posts. I have never used them in previous WordPress installations, and I have never had this problem before. Coincidence?

    UPDATE:
I only have four posts so fsr, so I cut and pasted them out of WordPress, and then deleted them. I changed the Permalinks back to the default. cut and pasted the posts back in, and now most of the broken links seem to be working. However, with RSS, I am now getting a different error message:

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below”

Followed by a lot of XML code.

A link to your site would help.

That’s actually what you want to see. Your feeds are just XML streams of raw data (code), but if you’re willing to share a link as esmi suggested, we should be able to confirm that for you.
