If you were to see this post, you will notice that there is a RSS feed for this thread link.
    My questions are :
    1) What is RSS feed for?
    2) what can i do with it?
    3) how do i make use of this RSS?

    1. It's so you can, using a news aggregator (such as the RSS Reader Panel for Firefox, or Feeddemon - there are many) watch the development of several threads so that you do not have to come back to this site.
    2. As said, you can watch lots of threads without having to try and remember them or bookmark them. And it saves bandwidth for the site too.
    3. Get an aggregator. http://blogspace.com/rss/readers

So, what I want to know is this... I have WordPress up and running, and want to have an area on my blog where I can read RSS feeds from other blogs. Is this do-able? If so, how much am I going to have to learn about a program (WordPress) that I only installed a week ago?
Thank you for not beating me up.

Multiple solutions, look at the hacks page:
    http://wiki.wordpress.org/index.php/WPHacks
and search for "RSS", it comes up a few times (yes, including my CG-FeedRead solution!).
