  • Navigate to http://your_domain/wp-admin/upgrade.php in your web browser.

    esmi,
When I navigate to the file, via http://www.hyperblogcafe.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php, it says,

    No Update Required
Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!

Therefore, if I have the folder open, in FTP, can I just double-click on that file? And, would I get a different result?

    Thank you,
    Mark

No – that won’t work. If your database is up-to-date, then it’s up-to-date. Have you re-checked your feed since you uploaded all of the new files?

What new files, esmi? I thought you told me that I only needed to do an upgrade?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to put this in quotes:

What new files, esmi? I thought you told me that I only needed to do an upgrade?

I suggested that you re-upload all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress a few posts back.

    Oh, I’m sorry. πŸ™

Obviously we had a misunderstanding. I thought we narrowed it down to just an upgrade. OK, no problem. I can do that.

When that’s done, I post back.

    Thank you.

    Hi esmi,

OK, I did what you suggested, and, according to the below instructions:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

I am happy to say, the operation was successful, and I’m sure that I now have a much cleaner install; however, the original problem with the feeds still persists. πŸ™

    MAN! What could it be?

the original problem with the feeds still persists. πŸ™

    Argh!!

Not sure if I’ve asked you this but have you ever moved this site since you started using WordPress? Did your hosts carry out any server moves for you? I’m running out of ideas on this one – which makes it more & more likely that it’s a server issue. Especially given the dubious PHP info you were given during your last contact with your hosts. Can you try contacting them again? Ask to speak to 2nd line support. Point them to this thread, if that helps. In the meantime, I’ll see if I can rustle up some more people to brainstorm new suggestions/ideas.

@markross … it looks like you’ve tried just about everything. As an extreme step, I would suggest reinstalling the WordPress files. It’s possible (albeit unlikely) that the problem is in one of the core files.

The only other option I can give you because you’re exhausted the others is to export (Tools > Export) and then setup a local server I have a tutorial at (http://thisismyurl.com/6203/testing-wordpress-websites-local-macintosh-server/) and importing it locally there. Install your theme and plugins as normal on your local machine, if everything works the error is with your server.

*If* it’s with your server, create a new DB on the server, rename your wp-config.php file and setup WordPress as a fresh install on the DB. Import from your downloaded XML file and reinstall plugins/theme.

Both of these are last resport suggestions but it looks like esmi has given you best advice short of reinstalls.

    I have not esmi.

Did your hosts carry out any server moves for you?

Nope. Since I’ve had this domain, it has been hosted with 1and1. If they moved it to some other server on their side, I am unaware of it.

    OK, we’ll do, esmi

Thank you so much, esmi. I really appreciate ALL your help.

    Hi Chris.

Last night, I did reinstall the core WordPress files.

I really appreciate your suggestions. I may try them as a last resort.

    Chris/esmi,
Is it possible that Google Chrome corrupted or broke my RSS Feeds? I love Google Chrome! But, I have noticed that, this problem occurred after I installed it.

    esmi,
I just called my hosting company again, and they said there is nothing on their side that could be causing this.

I did put out a call for more ideas but apart from christopherross, it looks like we’re all now officially stumped by this. I can only suggest that you consider his suggestions of effectively exporting your site to a new install in the hopes that this might help.

That would be a lot of work, but, I will certainly keep the idea in mind.

Thank you esmi. I really appreciate all your help! Please let me know if you think of anything else. I will do some more research as well.
