RSS feeds and/or notifications

Hi, hope you can help. I am very new to WordPress (Just started using it an hour ago). I run a community policing forum, we have bbm and whatsapp groups where we post lookouts. I want to get away from this and have thus created a blog for this purpose using WP. I would like to know, how android / blackberry users can get notifications on the phone or tablet when someone posts onto the blog? Not an email notification, but one similar to the notifications you get from Facebook, twitter, games etc. Is there any way this can be done? I have downloaded the WP app on my samsung, also an RSS feeder, but am not getting any notifications.
