    Could the date (pubdate ?) be added to that? Is it something simple I could add in?

    ARGh!
    As simple as using wp-rss2.php rather than wp-rss.php
    (Why don’t I ever discover these things until AFTER I ask a question?)

    The specs for RSS .92 do not support a date of issue (i.e. pubDate) element. However, the other feed types that come in WordPress (RSS 2, RDF/RSS 1, and Atom) provide a date of issue to each post.
