RSS Feeds and A Projects Page (11 posts)

I'd like to add a projects page to my website, http://reddoorreview.com , and I want it to be low-maintenance. I think there should be a way of using categories' and tags' RSS feeds to populate the page each time I add a new entry, but I'm not really sure how to go about it. I've searched online for examples, but haven't stumbled upon anything that helps.

Here some examples of project pages on other sites: http://www.younghouselove.com/how-to/ and http://www.bowerpowerblog.com/catalog-2/ .

I'm open to using a plugin, but only if it isn't going to slow my loading time. Some plugins are ridiculous in that way, they greatly add to loading times and I definitely don't want that. But, clearly, not all and some developers make sure their plugins are lightweight and effective. Regardless, I haven't found a plugin that would help me with this.

    Any ideas?

Do you mean a category page, showing all the posts in a certain category or a blog home page with small excerpts?

A category page, where each category is listed and then entries that fall in that category are shown, with a thumbnail. The links I listed above go directly to Young House Love's and Bower Power's project pages. Neither are the index page for the site.

I thought I could use a category RSS feed to automatically populate each section on the page.

Why not use the category page itself then? The only thing you would need to change would be to show a thumbnail instead of the_content().

Huh, good idea. Were or how would i display the category page on the site? I'm not seeing it easily in Dashboard. Is there a box to check and then enable it through pages?

What exactly do you want? Link from the menu, from the sidebar, ...

I'd like something like these pages: http://www.younghouselove.com/how-to/ and http://www.bowerpowerblog.com/catalog-2/

Where the reader can visit the projects page; easily identify categories; see the associated thumbnail and article title underneath; and click on the thumbnail or title to go to the entry.

Thank you for brainstorming with me!

P.S. Just noticed my typo ... I meant "Where or how would I..." in my previous thread post.

You're looking for an archive page. Try this http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Archive_Index

Yes, this is it. Thank you, Peter. And thanks again, Esmi. Both pages are helpful. I think the archive page is the answer to what I'm looking for.

I knew I just didn't know the right search terms. Cheers!
