RSS Feed Pain in the Butt (6 posts)

Hey everyone, sorry to keep beating a dead horse but I can't figure it out. I've read a lot of the other posts on RSS Feeds for your site, but am still stumped.

My template came with a social media bar on the right side which includes an RSS button. When you click it, it goes no where. So I need to put a URL in there so it redirects correctly. You can check that out here: skwills.com

Problem being, I've searched my code and can't find anything that would point me in the direction to what my URL is.

    My blog URL is: http://skwills.com/?page_id=14
And I've tried adding /feed /rss and a handful others to the end of it, but nothing works.

This leads me to believe I don't have an existing RSS feed in my code. So I'm assuming I need to DL a plugin or something, but why would a button exist if it hasn't been written in there already?

Also, I use Firefox and there is not an RSS feed button in the browser like some other support requests suggest.

    Thanks for the help!

What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

Your site's RSS feed is at http://skwills.com/?feed=rss2

    Life-saver! Okay, that was dramatic.

DUENA is the one I'm using (http://wordpress.org/themes/duena), but I have changed it (with the help of a friend) I can't understand code passed being able to find/change colors.

How did you find it so easy? Just in case I ever need to, I'd like to learn how.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but.. an RSS feed will allow them to view my blogs without visiting the site - but I still need to setup some form of plugin that will e-mail them new blog posts because the RSS feed will not do that. Right?

Do not edit the theme itself. Instead create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

an RSS feed will allow them to view my blogs without visiting the site

It can allow people to read your Posts via their RSS reader, yes. The same RSS reader will automatically pick up new posts on the site.

I will double-check, but I believe I am using the child theme. He did create one for me. I'll have to make sure that's the one that's activated. When I update WordPress should I be updating the parent or the child theme?

And can you recommend a plugin for email subscriptions? So when I post a blog it will automatically send it to say my sister's inbox. Or whoever.

Just the parent theme. That's the only pone you will get an update notice for. The child theme will remain untouched - which is what you want.

can you recommend a plugin for email subscriptions?

Try http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ It has an email subscription form as well as a few other goodies in it.
