If you go to /wp-admin/options-reading.php you’ll get the option to show full text on rss feed. It should be enabled by default. Be sure to check the <content:encoded> tag in the RSS for full content. The default viewer in Firefox only shows <description>, which is just the summary. When you load into a proper reader it gets content though.
Hi there – thanks for the reply.
I specifically need to view the rss on a WordPress page – rather than through a browser or rss reader. People have done this (http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/04/26/import-and-display-rss-feeds-in-wordpress/) but only the short summary is shown.
The read options are set to full text.
I’ve looked at the page source when viewing the rss through IE8 (which displays full text) but there are no <content:encoded> tags.
Is there a file in WordPress (wordpress\wp-includes\rss.php?) that can be modified to include <content:encoded>, if indeed thats what I need to do to get full text rss on a WordPress page.
Thanks again.
iltdevunit, I’m trying to do exactly the same thing as you. I’ve absolutely pulled my hair out at the rubbish description and plugins that don’t work to simple task. I wish I’d never heard of WordPress!!
