RSS, Comments RSS, Atom Buttons (6 posts)

    The buttons RSS, Comments RSS, and Atom do not work. Please take a look at my site at http://www.tedtalk.com, and scroll to the bottom (or look to the right for The Meta) and click RSS, Comments RSS, and Atom. They lead to nowhere.

    Please help!!!!

    Your buttons work fine - I can get your feed without any problems.

    The buttons aren't really supposed to "lead anywhere". They merely provide a visible presence of your Feeds. They say "Hey, I have feeds on this page and site!"

    You can see that they are working when you scan the page for feeds using any feed reader.

    feed:http://www.tedtalk.com/?feed=comments-rss2
    feed:http://www.tedtalk.com/?feed=atom

    The "feed:" prefix is so that properly configured browsers can open the feed in a proper feed viewer.

    If there isn't a feed viewer set up with your browser, it won't work. If you're using Firefox, it will popup with a "feed is not a registered protocol".

    Safari automatically takes the feed: URLs and displays them fancy. If you want to see the feeds inside your browser, take off the feed:.
