Can someone brief me on the purpose of what an RSS feed is, and how to add one to my main page? I'm so confused by all of this that I'm not sure what to search for.

    Thanks in advance.

    Example RSS feed: http://wordpress.org/development/feed/

It's file formatted in a standardized way. They are used with feed readers, either online or as a program.

Basically, it allows you to keep up to date with all your favorite sites from one place.

    Thanks!...

What's the best way to get one for wordpress? I used my own template, and it doesn't automatically show up. How do I link one on my main page?

Generally, you can use the ?feed=rss2 at the end of your blog address, but for people with FireFox, or other RSS enabled browsers, I'd recommend you include a <link> tag for that.
