    Hi All:

    I am beginning to implemement my first installation of Word Press.

    Does anyone has any recommendations about what deafault role most users should be? I have a golf website, and I want users to be able to post, and I would like to have them add files. However, I am concerned about people either writing or uploading inappropriate content since we try to make all visitors welcome.

    Any suggestions in respect to what default role may be best, and any plugins or other techniques to help insure good posting and uploading behavior.

    Thanks.

    Dan

    Contributor is what you're looking for as that would allow them to submit articles and then they would have to be approved by the blog admin. Author would probably be too much as they get to approve their own posts.

    Not sure if they get allowed to upload though. Somethihng in teh back of my mind say they don't.

    Gone to look.

    OK, found it. There's actually a plugin that will do this for you but that means loading yet another file and for a one line fix, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

    Open up the /wp-admin/includes/schema.php file for editing (Use your webhosts file editor to make sure you stay in text mode. Using wordpad or word will mess up the file) and do a search for 'Add caps for Author role' without the quotes. Go down a couple of lines until you see this:

    $role->add_cap('upload_files');

    Copy and paste that line into the section a bit below that for Contributors and then save the file. That should do it.

    If you don't want to edit the file, here's a link to the plugin that should do it for you:

    Hope this helps

    I'm trying to do a similar thing here. Except I don't want my users to have to login. I want any JOE that comes to my site to be able to post and add an image. I have the system set to send all posts to the admin for approval.

    I added:

    $role->add_cap('upload_files');

    To the contributor role in my schema.php, but that doesn't seem to give me anything.
    Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bryan
