Role of archives (3 posts)

Mostly viewers look for fresh content on a blog. Since the blog posts are mostly date-specific and listed chronologically, readers tend to ignore older posts, irrespective of their value.

I am curious to know to what extent the archives are sought for and accessed, except in cases where older posts are cited elsewhere and folks look them up specifically, or seek some plugin, help, themes etc.

Active bloggers may kindly indicate their experience.

    Archives are *extremely* important!
If I come across a blog that was previously unknown to me and I found the content to be interesting, I would look through his or her older posts as a gauge of whether or not they were worth coming back to or if they have any other posts that stand out.

Likewise, if I'm looking for a particular post (or group of posts), then the archives are the first place to look at.

Archives on my own blog are pretty important to me. Still, I'm always trying to find new ways to hide them *in plain site* so they take up as little space as possible for those visitors who could care less, but are still there for anyone who wants to root around them.
