Since the attribute "role" is being called and doesn't exist can the error messages be eliminated by REM-ing out the line of code or some part of it?

Since the attribute "role" is being called and doesn't exist can the error messages be eliminated by REM-ing out the line of code or some part of it?
I'd simply edit the template files and remove the role= attributes.
