   After I upgraded to WP 2.1 the rich text editor is not working properly. The problem was not resolved when upgrading to WP 2.1.1 either. The problem is that the formatting-buttons for bold and italic text doesn't work properly. When using Firefox absolutely nothing happens when trying to format the text. When I try with IE this message pops up when pushing the "bold"-button:

   "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?"

   If I click "OK" nothing happens with the text. If I click "Cancel" the formatting applied. IE reports also another error message on the "Write" page in WordPress:

   "Error on page"

   I'm not getting the visual editor at all. I have the use visual tick box on in my user profile but when I got write, there are no buttons or windows or anything. Just the blank space for text. Same behaviour with IE7, IE6 and Firefox.

   I had this same problem with 2.1 and I was hoping it had been corrected by 2.1.1 because I know MANY people had the same problem, but it apparently has not. So now I have to go back and restore my 2.0.7 install again.

   [EDIT] Well I got the editor to show up but now I'm having the same difficulties that you are with the buttons missing.

   The formatting (bold and italic) buttons is not missing, they just doesn't work properly.

   Same problem here.
   Completely fresh install.
   Buttons are there, I navigate around my WP install, then buttons are gone and I get JS errors (Firefox, latest official release). If I reload the page, buttons appear again? WTF?

   When this happens, switching between visual and code is also not possible anymore.

   JS is activated in FF. No blocking happening.

   This sucks.

   (P.S.: No problems in IE 7)

   I get these when moving away from the post page and returning to it. Usually, a relaod of the post.php page in FF fixes the problem temporarily.

   I have finally fixed this problem. My bold and italic formatting buttons didn't work properly when upgrading to WP 2.1. After having problem with WP inserting double pictures when I'm trying to insert pictures (after upgraded to WP 2.3), I've upgraded WPG2 v2.0 to WPG2 v3.0 and also this problem was fixed.

   Finally! :D
