I'm trying to find a way to hide the folder that wordpress is installed in from the url.

    Example:
    http://www.website.com/wordpress/pagename

    changed to

    http://www.website.com/pagename

The solution cannot be to move it to the root because that is where my main site is, which is not in wordpress. Since I am using wordpress to handle a variety of different content, ie it is not a blog, I do not want the folder that it sits in to show, as it will be confusing to users. Is there anyway to have these wordpress pages show at the root level in the url instead?

OK - I understood that but why is that an issue? Bottom line - you cannot hide the folders that are used to run your site.
