Rewrite Output of Custom Date field?

Hi There,

I love this plugin! I’ve been able to make exactly the widget that my client was looking for – a sidebar events list that will display the next 5 upcoming events, based on posts they tag in the category events. The only thing I’m stuck on is the Date field.

For my sort script to work, I need the date field to show up as mm/dd/yy. I also want this date to display in the widget itself, so I have set it to fields and chosen the custom Dates field, however, it can be confusing in that format. I have tried to use the “Rewrite Output” feature to make 02/14/14 display as February 14, 2014, but it seems that no matter what I do, I end up with extra code and no date at all. I have read that others are experiencing glitches with the rewrite field – if there is a workaround to help me accomplish this, any help would be greatly appreciated!
