rewrite and redirect question (1 post)

    Hi, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I have have uploaded WP in a subdomain named dev on one server. Currently, the A Record for the domain points to another server running Drupal. We want to build a new site in WP in the subdomain - dev, test it, move it to root, then delete the redirect to the Drupal site. Our former developers wrote the code and I have not been able to contact them to see what I am doing wrong and we are getting close to our deadline.

    Here's my problem, I think. The .htaccess file in server (with the subdomain dev) has

    Redirect 301 / http://numericipaddress/
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine on
    # if you want the site to be accessed only WITHOUT the http://www., adapt and uncomment the following:
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^domainname\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule .* http://numericaddress/ [L, R=301]
    </IfModule>

    How do I change this to enable me to finish the WP install on the dev subdomain without breaking the redirect for everything else outside the dev subdomain to the numericaddress where the Drupal site resides?

    Thanks!!
