Revolution Slider - different slide/slider for different pages (6 posts)

    Hi there

    does anyone have any experience with the Revolution slider or know how i could implement and alter it on different pages, not just the homepage?

    The site I'm working on is http://www.globecreative.co.za/03/
    (NOTE: You need the /03/ part as this is a testing server)

    I am using the RiverS theme which DOES allow me to assign the home page template to different pages, but id like the Revolution slider (and possibly the full width background image of the theme) to be different on e.g. the "About Us" page

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    According to the theme, the Slider can be implemented as follows:

    * From the theme html use: '<?php putRevSlider( "alias" ) ?> example: <?php putRevSlider("slider1") ?> '
    For show only on homepage use: '<?php putRevSlider("slider1","homepage") ?> '
    For show on certain pages use: '<?php putRevSlider("slider1","2,10") ?>'
    * From the widgets panel drag the "Revolution Slider" widget to the desired sidebar
    * From the post editor insert the shortcode from the sliders table

    Now where do i put this piece of code? I don't have a theme html as its all in php
    '<?php putRevSlider("slider1","homepage") ?>'

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated

    Yes you can - no need to access PHP code.
    You may use the following shortcode: [rev_slider your-slider]
    in any page or post.
    Or use custom type fields if set in your theme.

    HI how do I add rev slider in custom fields in my current theme - OR do I need to buy a theme with a default rev slider in custom field value - or can I add a value in my current theme? Please help!!

    hey itsangela,
    I'm no expert but I was working on this now and have a simple solution I think:
    1. Make sure you have created your slider and it has a name like 'about'
    2. Create a custom field on the page you are hoping to use (in this case the 'About') and name it something like rev. All the pages you wish to have a custom slider should have this field filled out.
    3. In the php template where you want to place the slider it will look something like this:

    <span class="page_specific_slider">
    		<?php putRevSlider(get_post_meta(get_the_ID(), "rev", true)); ?>
    	</span>

    Where "rev" is whatever you have labeled the custom field. You should probably add some checks to make sure that the field has been set and some fallbacks if it has not.

    Hope that helps!

    I was having a similar problem - trying to put different sliders on the same page template. Code I used - just make sure the slider alias matches the slug or the page

    <?php $slugx=basename(get_permalink());
    		   putRevSlider($slugx);?>
