Review Site Project: WPReview Site vs. RatingPress? (4 posts)

I'm spinning up a review site project -- nothing commercial, just fun -- and the research I've done has lead me to either WPReview Site or RatingPress as potential review plugins to use.

Does anyone have any experience with these two to give me any advice on which way to lean? Features seems pretty similar. I'm more designer-y than developer-y, so I'm looking for something that won't require me to diddle the code too much, while easily fitting into a nice WP template that I'll customize. I'd also like to find a way for users to submit their own original reviews, rather than only adding reviews to an existing post. But that sounds like security trouble to me.

And if you know of another plugin that does all this better, please point the way. :)

Well I have some experience with WPReview Site. I find it quite easy to work with. Infact I have just created a site in the last few days using it. I manipulated both WordPress and WPReview Site code though to get the site as I wanted it. This is part and parcel of using WordPress and their plugins though. You do have to get your hands dirty so to speak and learn how to do various things. I don't have any experience of using RatingPress though.

My endeavours of the last few days can be seen here: http://mkj-reviews.co.uk. The theme I am using is one that came with the 'Theme Pack' I also purchased off the same author. I have altered it a little such as removing a side panel.

is the fact this site no longer exists still a recommendation for the software?

WP Review Site is good. Its simple to use, but if you want power, you want MyReviewPlugin. I wouldn't say MyReviewPlugin is hard to use (in fact, in <i>most</i> ways its easier than WP Review Site), it just has a ton more functionality. There's also WP Review Engine which is worth checking out.
