Revert to original design template (5 posts)

I installed Matala and then customized the header and the background. I don't like it and would like to return to the original design. I'm sorry to ask but I've read through many topics on the forum and can't find a solution. I have uninstalled, deactivated, reinstalled, clear browser cache and restarted. I still get my re-design and not the original Matala theme. I'm assuming I have created a style sheet that is over-riding the original. Where is it? Or what else should I try?

Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme (or any other theme), deleting the wp-content/themes/matala directory and then re-install that theme?

Unless you are using a child theme, once the old matala theme directory is deleted you should be able to put a fresh copy back.

Again, sorry to ask dense questions however I will since you are trying to help me! (I thank you for that.)

When I type in the following:
    xxx.name-of-blog.com/wp-content/themes/masala
I get either a blank white browser screen or a server error asking me to try again later.

    If I enter
    username.wordpress.org/wp-content/themes/masala
    I get a 404 error

Is this not the correct way to access the files? Thank you for your help. I'm new to this (OBVIOUSLY!)

  4. Not a problem, this is a volunteer forum. Asking is one way to pick this up.

I installed Matala and then customized the header and the background.

My apologies, I see where I made a mistake. I thought you had modified the Matala theme files. I over complicated your problem ten fold!

You didn't modify files at all, you just uploaded a image for the background. After I installed Matala on my Crash Test Dummy Blog™ I see what needs to be done.

Once you've installed and selected the Matala theme, you can reset the background simply by visiting the Background option URL and clicking Remove Background Image.

    http://your-blog-url-here/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-background

For the Background Color, just put the default # in that field.

Is this not the correct way to access the files? Thank you for your help. I'm new to this

I think if those options I mentioned above work then you won't have to worry about editing files. :)

Thank you, Jan Dembowski! It was as simple as pressing 'Clear'. I learned quite a bit today as I fumbled around. Your advice helped me sort it all out. It was easy after all. Thank you for helping me!
