Reverse pagination links

Hello,

I’ve been Googling for a solution to this but can’t find any so perhaps someone can help me.

I’d like to know how to alter the order of the pagination on my blog so that the oldest page of posts has the permalink /page/1/ and my recent page of posts is numbered /page/999/ or whatever the number is.

Basically revert the counting because it makes no sense that all the posts get shuffled backwards every time I write something new, a user can create a link to a particular page of posts and after they get shuffled he will end up with a link that leads to completely different ones.

Has anyone implemented this or has some idea on how to accomplish it?
